Frequently Asked Questions|

Reassessment is a process that happens every four years for residential properties, during which the St. Charles Parish Assessor’s Office will value all properties in the parish that are subject to property taxes as mandated by the Louisiana Constitution and state law.*

The St. Charles Parish Assessor’s Office is dedicated to completing a fair, consistent, and transparent reassessment process based on the most accurate data available. This page is meant to help you understand all the factors that go into finding your residential property’s fair market value and how that value relates to property taxes, or millages.

The assessor values properties, while local taxing districts and governmental agencies set millage rates. Those rates are subject to authorization by you,Β the voter, usually for a period of 10 or more years.

*The Louisiana Constitution of 1974, Article VII Section 18(f) mandates reassessment every four years.
